Bright Warrior — Interactive DVD
Trauma communication tool that bypasses conscious defenses to access non-verbal memory
About This Project
Bright Warrior is an interactive DVD system produced by Lion Song Productions — Wendy Anson's multimedia production company — designed to allow troubled veterans and trauma survivors to "tell" what happened to them without having to "talk about it."
The system features a data back-end that tracks, times, and computes user icon manipulation and placement in real time. Icons are weighted according to a scale indicative of trauma or disturbance intensity, and user selection of these scored icons is automatically computed and scored — making trauma event access and communication possible through bypassing the conscious defenses.
Bright Warrior accesses the unconscious, non-verbal part of the adult's psyche to access the memory of what happened and when. Its special design and technology enables the adult to "tell about" or communicate "what happened when" — communicating incidents in the exact order they occurred, which is essential for therapeutic treatment.
Honored with a grant from USC's Annenberg School of Communications, Bright Warrior represents Wendy's commitment to making trauma recovery accessible through innovative multimedia technology. Wendy is seeking partners, grants, and institutional collaborators to bring this system to broader clinical use.
